Ageless Dreamer Key Note Speaker at CAP Volunteer Seniors Annual Retreat
September 2, 2009
DOVER, NH – Ruth Keene, 97 year old artist, Gerard Langeler, 93 year old author and retired founder and president of a prestigious NE advertising company, spoke to volunteers from the Senior Companion Program as ambassadors for the Ageless Dreamer, a 501(c)3 nonprofit, based in Dover, NH. The retreat was held at the Audubon Society, Concord, NH.
Keene and Langeler are perfect examples that there is more to aging then wheelchairs, walkers, hearing aids, medicine, and doctor visits. Keene, a cancer survivor and twice time widow, has been an artist for forty years. She continues to teach oil painting to others at her home and shared her experience of having her first art gallery event in 2006 through Ageless Dreamer.
Langeler retired in 1977 to pursue writing. A widower, he authored the book ‘Let’s Make Faces’ for autistic children which made him an active member of the autism community. Langeler spoke of why and how he became a passionate volunteer for Ageless Dreamer.
The Senior Companion Program of NH (CAP) is a volunteer service which promotes the independence of frail elderly or disabled adults living in the community. Healthy, active senior citizens are matched with frail, usually homebound elderly for friendly visiting and help with essential errands such as grocery shopping, transportation to medical appointments and assistance with light chores.
